Facing criminal charges and the power of the state can be a frightening experience. The legal system can be complex and confusing. Adrian is committed to standing by his clients and providing the best advice and defense possible.
All discussions with clients are confidential and Adrian will always take the time to answer any questions they might have.
Adrian had the opportunity to attend and conduct Parole Board hearings while he was articling. Parole Hearings are quite different from trials and Adrian always takes the time to work with his clients to prepare them for their hearing and show the board that his clients have learned from past mistakes and are prepared to make their journey into a new life.
Adrian also dealt with many inmate grievances while articling. When in prison, an inmate becomes one of the most marginalized people in Canadian society. Too often, their dignity and rights are ignored, and the grievance process complex, making rehabilitation and reintegration more difficult. Adrian will take the time to review each case to ensure that inmates are treated with the dignity each individual deserves, and they will have the opportunities they need in their journey to rehabilitation.
Adrian had the opportunity to attend Ontario Review Board hearings while articling. Mental health and the emergent field of neurodiversity is a highly complex area. Ensuring an individual’s rights and decisions of whether or not to consent to treatment are respected is important. Unfair treatment of people who are already struggling can have a lasting impact on their lives.
Adrian stands by his clients and fights to ensure that they are able to exercise the rights available to them under the Mental Health Act and Health Care Consent Act.
